Chiya Culture in Kathmandu

The cup is small, the conversation isn't. On why chai in this city is really a social format.

Chiya Culture in Kathmandu

Placeholder article copy for development. In Kathmandu, 'let's get chiya' rarely means anyone is thirsty. It means twenty minutes, a shared bench, and whatever needs saying.

A format, not a drink

The glass is deliberately small. You finish it in ten minutes, which means the conversation either ends or somebody orders again — and the second order is the one that matters.

We designed our seating around that. Long tables, no rush, and staff who won't clear your glass to move you along.
